Except it isn't, the NGE didn't have a system that each advanced class will have it's own unique storyline, which will make SWTOR a more compelling experience for players and more challenging roles at that.

Here is the update on Advanced Classes on SWTOR.com

well wasn't the NGE not ready when they launched it? I heard a few guys that worked for SOE didn't want it to be released yet, but I don't think the NGE and SWTOR's advanced class system are anything alike so you have nothing to worry about.

They look enough alike that people seem to have a problem with it Cill, that's enough to cause a lot of speculation, and I agree with the fish

Well according to the responses from friday's update about it, people seem to be quite pleased with it, if it was anything like the NGE they would be furious.

I was referring to Jayce running away crying due to it actually. Just because the majority on the forums agree doesn't mean it still doesn't look like the NGE tree. Reminds me of the WoW tree though a bit more..... Kinda hard to not bring that up since that MMO seems to have incorporated everything nicely into it...

Now for a positive note - At least they made the fucking backgrounds different.

Perfect World kind of have the same system, though different to play, but the skill system do look like NGE... would rather have a skill based system rather than level based, it was what made SWG fun to play that you could mix classes.

Also the model is over used to be called new, this could just be another game with another skin attached to it.

Yes you can have big guns and glow sticks.... but in those other games you get a bow and a wide selection of weapon types to use.. which pretty much renders it similiar.

Not denying TOR completely at all... maybe it has a chance or maybe not... but at this point they need to convince me that it is the game I would like to play and actually pay for playing it, another concern regarding to starwars is the battles using a starship of some kind to beat up others with or just NPC's.

It means if it does not have any interesting stuff space wise.. then I find it hard seeing myself actually playing tor... yes it is starwars or whatever... but you need it all for it being everything that I personally would like to spend mytime on as it is.

Most MMO's have the same skill tabletop, take WOW for example the difference between the NGE and the TOR's Advanced class system is this, you can actually see the difference in your characters moves and skill level, lets take the Jedi Knight as an example they will probably go for Guardians as the tank and Weapon Master as the DPS (but don't quote me on that). Now each class will be unique with a very different storyline and I doubt we'll be able to respec over from Guardians to Weapon Master, once your choice has been made it will most likely be perminent based on that character, bioware has mentioned you have to pick your skills wisely afterall. Now with NGE, your just one class that can easily respec over from light or dark skill table, which has no unique story to follow based on your choices it's all the same, and with that being said you can switch classes too, in SWTOR you can't do that.

All I got to say is anything can look good on paper. However, put into practice it can be a total disaster due to the human element. Expect alot of bitching and moaning and groaning, and then expect to see alot of caving and nerfing. It happens all the time. It never fails that the whiney ones make the game fail. The only reason WoW does so well is that it knows how to cater to the whiney bitches that are the MMO player-base.

I believe that TOR burned itself for making a unique storyline for each of the classes because of it and now they are trying to fix it this way by making many skill sets for each profession instead of more classes.

When time gets tougher you might need a healer of some sort... some DPS from other classes... but because those other classes are in the same situation being forced to follow a storyline it would make the game extremely slow advancing in... it is not a good idea to stall players in those ways when it would be better to merge storylines when half way or just one quarter of the way.

Have you thought about how difficult it has made it for them to implent new professions?

Maybe if they had done it so from level 1 to 40 you follow a storyline and then from 40 to 100 you participiate in world events, public quests and whatever instead and what about what there is to do after?
