RELEASE

#46
The pre-order early access code gives you the download and play ability BEFORE you receive your game. The game has a code that gives you a months access probabply prorated based on when you entered all your codes.

"I don't see it dropping in price for at least 6 months."

Every MMO in the last three years has dropped ten bucks in the first two months after release. In two months they will know they don't have a prayer of getting 1/5 of WoW's suscribers, and they will panic. Its almost industry standard behavior.

But industry hasn't had the money sucker George Lucas behind one of the games being made, has it?

not to mention that bioware at euro games con this year announced that they have 7.8 million .... yup just south of 8 million pre orders for the game alone . If the games any good , an it is .... I could see that number jumping up signifigantly in the first quarter . Also to note Wow had 2/3 of that number when it launched . Things to chew on ....

The game won't be for everyone but it will be a blockbuster. WoW is just at that age when it is time for it to be dethrown.

It's still a win-win for Bioware, doesn't really matter how many players leave WoW for TOR.

Lots of hopes getting sky high. Going to be sad for a lot of people when they are all dashed. Every game since WoW was going to be the WoW killer. Warhammer Online sold north of 4 million, if I remember right, 500,000 boxes in one week. That game is down to two servers not even three years later.

Having played beta for both, TOR is an entirely different animal then WAR ever was. Nor have I considered any game as having a chance in hell to dethrone WoW.. til now.

I think Biowares done it right . but time will tell . I do believe tor has higher potential then galaxies ever had . An that's already a positive sign .

hehe logged into galaxies an the server was practiclly empty save for a few afk spammers whinning for people to support a save galaxies movement .

It's hard to believe something will ever be as big as WoW was but with the culture the way it is, and so many people online, it is going to happen. Now is TOR going to be as big as WoW at its peak? Probably not but it can surpass WoW simply because WoW is in decline. Kind of like an old prize fighter losing his last fight to the young kid, who'd never be as good as the old fighter in his prime. But with enhancing meds the way they are today, there will be better fighters "made".

Yeah, TOR isn't going to be for everyone. I may only like it in passing. However, no need to be negative just to be negative. It isn't healthy. Far too much of that in the world today already.

TOR is TOR, whatever that is. They have put so much more work into this game than the past few MMOs that I just don't see TOR being that bad.

It's a fun game. I've been in two beta builds now, and I think it will have a decent launch with few bugs. The server load is a concern, but they seem to be staggering it, so it might work out. My hope is over the years they add the good parts of SWG. Housing, real space battles, better crafting. Still, TOR has a good base to start from, as long as they continue to expand on it, I can see it doing well.

This announcement (on a Saturday no less) made my day. Big Grin

Pretty standard subscription model:

Each copy of Star Wars: The Old Republic will come with 30 days of subscription time, after which you have the option to continue playing with one of the following monthly subscription fees:

1 Month Subscription: $14.99 (£8.99/€12.99)
3 Month Subscription: $13.99 per month (one-time charge of $41.97/£25.17/€35.97)
6 Month Subscription: $12.99 per month (one-time charge of $77.94/£46.14/€65.94)

Rather disappointing that there isn't a year sub.

So which is the better subscription? 1 month?

I'll prolly go either a 3 month or 6 month sub . then depending how the game goes from thier . an what subs options available . either renew for another 3 months or 6 months . then maybe drop to a monthly sub .
