Is development for this game taking to long?

Kat has a good feel for this game. Current rumor is september though if they are thinking september now it could be november come fall.

I'd be suprised if it was a spring release ... I'd say april - may they open up closed beta an run beta through the summer . Sept - october they have an open beta , with a november release date to get in on the xmas sales at american thanksgiving time ...

Wishful thinking Kat. Someone dug up an old article that said BW pushed the release date back to September 2011. As you can imagine the SWTOR boards blew up about that and it was quickly squashed by the Community Manager. The "source" was a former disgruntled Mythic employee. I don't see how some see it as credible.

As slow as information is coming now, it just doesn't follow a typical spring/Q2 2011 release. I can understand the NDA and all that but come on! Give us some more information!

uhh considering the games in early to mid alpha stages still as were closing in on febuary ... the only way this comes out in late spring is a rushed beta . Given biowares attention for detail an desire to not repeat the mistakes obsidian made with kotor II .... I seriously doubt it'll get rushed . I expect this to go through a really long alpha stage with an extensive beta test before a release . There's too much hype and investments with a deep desire to not repeat swg errors .

Oh bah. They aren't going to shitcan the whole thing. Far too much money involved. September is probably right for release, and I have no doubt they will get a million subs easy. It's going to be a fantastic game from what I've seen, and I think it will do fine.

For comparison to another hotly anticipated game - Guild Wars 2, GW2 was supposed to closed beta in 4Q 2010, release 1Q 2011. Now 4Q 2011 for release.

All the big players are pushing back, and it would not surprise me to see TOR come out late this year, just in time for Christmas.

an I'd almost bet money there not releasing before June either ... why Release before June when you can add more hype by giving everyone a fresh tease with E3 , and use E3 to announce the launch date . It's absolute marketing brill . that would give the hard core fanboi's a great oppertunity to use the rest of the summer to conduct a through closed beta , with a fall open beta giving everyone a october target time frame for launch . just in time before thanksgiving and christmas .
