Hanse said a week ago that the number of people in ship would grant a reduction in damage from opponents... in which caused an insane uproar on the pilot forum... an uproar that bad... that it caused him and his team to change it back to somewhat this current setup again.

Stay in touch on the pilot forum if you want to be a part of the community is my words, because it is there the pilots are needed now... to make sure they do not mess up JTL, CH8 is getting insanely close onto us, I have to say that and it could be released somewhat in December as well.

Q, While the members of the pilot Community are right on a number of things, they are also blind to any benefit that certain changes would make. They are afraid of change to the point where they will accept the crap because they are afraid of the crap we might get.

Hanse's proposed damage reduction based on the number of crew members was a mis-guided attempt to give more bonus to Crews on a Gunship. While he was wrong, certain members of the pilot community have lost any respect I had for them for thier treatment of the best dev on this bloody team.

on that point I see stuff totally different and not with blind eyes... if any POB or multiperson ship would be overpowered that way for good mainly because it would be 90% reduction (in the GB) and somewhat 80% in a standard POB, as forcefull POBs already are and by that I mean they really are nutbusters if both the crew and pilot can cope with things and have practised alot.

I have felt on my own ship how crude and insane POB's already is, adding a person buff this way would nearly make the GBs immortal in which could be fun for some stupid kid, but not people who want a game going.

The devs had to take those changes back for the number of people = buff in ship to as it is now.. because mainly 99.9% of the community went all feral on the change done by the developers.

It has nothing to do with being afraid of getting new content, but to maintain the PvP/general balance in a reasonable way.

AS the change was.. then technically you could be having a load of AFK alts in your ship and be immortal, instead of doing such add some more mass so you can put more crafted gear into the beast instead.

The piloting community is the same community as the ground community, in all honesty. The sad part is that it only takes a few voices to totally ruin what could be an enhanced experience. This is exactly the reason they don't do anything with space. Everyone's too damned sensative about it.

bah lost my edit in my post... was good writing though... so going to sum it up... basically I think many of the pilots on the forums are morons and very shortsighted in many things... and that you at times sort of have to nurse them to an understanding.

other part was about the devs ignorance in the system wondering if they got any space experience at all, in which makes me worried as it could cause deep wounds instead of more and new interesting content... one of the devs said that pilot is not skill based but equipment based for an instance in which it is not, any pilot no matter how stupid he or she is know that it requires training to gain a skill while flying in space, expecially when it comes to PvP.

Equipment play no role, the way you use your equipment does.

You need a cap ship to take down a cap ship, and lets face it, this is our cap ship. Making the gun ship hard to kill by fighters is a good thing. Means we get gunship battles rather than a swam on an otherwise slow moving target.

Arch is exactly right. While I'm all about fighters being powerful, I still hold to the ideal that they should never be able to take down a large target with ease. Large ships have stronger shields, naturally, and especially when it comes to a warship like a gunship, it should be a skillful undertaking. I welcome the battles between my gunship against another. It will be as fulfilling as I think I will ever get to capships in SWG. I'm gonna kick some asses if some whiney 15/35 year olds who have nothing better to do than pester devs on a public forum ruin my potential fun.

Quortek, I love ya buddy, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this on some different levels. For one thing, yes.. Anyone who has a better engine and weapons and can out-turn you can best you even if you have more skill than they do. Secondly, tiny-ass hitboxes like the ones on RGIs make it much easier for you to avoid being hit while still hitting your target, regardless of skill. And third, aside from a few exceptions, PvP space combat is nothing but turning and holding down the trigger. That's it.

I guaran-fucking-tee you if you get some of those so-called pilots in with PvE I could outshoot ever last one of them even though they could likely take me in a PvP battle simply because they overuse missiles, use tiny hitbox fighters, or have Tri-Cannons with a virtually unlimited firing duration.

Hey guys I love ya all too it is not aimed towards any of the people present in SBR at all, but in general.

Xwing is not a turnfighter... but a better jouster and has nuts firepower for sure, that is the reason to that an awing and an xwing work that well together or for that sake any turnfighter, but instead of making fight groups event wise they split all types up being inefficient.

As for the power of current POB's then if they got more they would be overpowered,,, been flying against some of the best POB pilots and there crew before and can only say that adding a reduction like it WAS proposed would only cause harm, especially in the hands of insane POB pilots and there crew, you woud not be able to penetrate there defences at all not even with triple tri cannons or highpowered lvl10 guns, all the POB needs to do is to rear adjust.. and keep fighters behind him with a max complete rear angle of 170 degrees, that way you tank with a POB, but then again using missiles viciously on frontal attack such as tri mark IV protons or tri IR2's.

The problem would not happen much in POB vs POB battle... but then again... then any event would be like in who, who can muster the most POB ships in a battle... just like who can muster the most missile boats as it is now.

Now think of a 8 gun gunship, it is ok it has all that protection as it first was proposed as, mainly because it would be slower than a POB... and be such a huge target, but adding reduction to damage when people is aboard brings it down to something absurd in which not would happen now, but it is still a huge target, it would require a team to take them down for good, but when doing it you would be open to any bombers around in the system as well as the GB can shoot from ANY angle on approach, all you need is good gunners that understand in how to exploit the GB to its maximum.

Quality of gear is not of matter overall, it is all about how you use your gear optimal and practise with it well, would use speed in an xwing instead of maneuverability if you ask me.

I have to say that crafted gear vs re gear is a myth that has been busted for good, there is alot of loadouts that is damn useable and does not end up with re-quality gear, so on that part I have to disagree, hey I might be having getting some new gear assembled, but it does not make me better than anyone else really... there is people with half the quality gear that is able to take me down for good.

Anyhow... let us see what the devs would bring to us instead of ending up bickering in between... it would be very short sighted to say that something made should be an I WIN button, but it was that the devs proposed when second alteration of the GBs happened.
I think we all could agree to that should never happen as it would cause a bad impact to a skillbased system rather than a hit button fire hit system as it is on the ground.

SPAM!!!!!!

As for me, I really don't care much about how hard or how easy it is to take down the gunships, as long as it's realistic. The gunships shouldn't be an easy target for fighters or bombers (Although I'm sure that bombers would have an easier time as that would be realistic).

they wont be easier targets at all vs a fighter that is... a GB would be an easy target if it was a bunch of nubs operating it... it would be having 110K front and 110K rear defence.

That is more than 5 times the defence a standard POB got, thus because of its size it got 8 guns as well that can be used to eliminate opposing forces as it is easy to hit because of its size.. but with the defences it got and firepower it is not something you just kill.

Maybe you can't solo a gb with a fighter. Maybe you shouldn't be able to either. Think of it as 8 fighters, all put together. Unless they are noobs, you will be going down to 8 fighters.

The system should be set up where you have to fight fire with fire. So either bring another gb or a full squad. A lone fighter should just be target fodder for the gb.

let me point this out.. you can't solo a beast like this if it is an experienced crew... experience is one of the most important things in the space game.. you could put 8 people up in a POB who knows nothing about space and they would be cannon fodder even for a small ship like an awing... but now look at it with this scenario: you put ina crew who knows what it is all about and can work together 100% it would take more than one ship to take it down... I agree to that and is not against that, what I am against is additional bonusses for being able to have a lot of AFK people in the ship and be let us say double as powerfull in protection look at it like this 220K protection front and rear... the ship would be able to tank groups of players in which is overpowered as hell, this is not a capital ship.. it is still a gunning platform it is there we need to look at things and from that angle... since it is not a Corvette nor Dreadnaught in which such kind of protection if not more is needed.

People, afk or otherwise, in SWG is so rare I doubt it would be a problem. I am sure SOE wouldn't mind if a bunch of people had extra accounts just to boost their ship. Would be even better if they actually found people to gun for them.
